Snake River Brewing

Snake River Brewing opened in Jackson in 1994 and calls itself Wyoming’s first brewpub. Founders Albert and Joni Upsher came from Oregon, where Albert had worked as an Anheuser-Busch distributor and watched the state’s microbrewery scene grow. They chose Jackson, Albert’s favorite ski town. A local family took over ownership in 2008. The brewpub occupies a former Coca-Cola distribution building, remodeled with an open industrial look, plenty of light and exposed steel beams, and the brewing equipment and a wood-burning oven are on display. The room features a curved mahogany bar. The founders wanted a simple neighborhood gathering place for locals that would also introduce Jackson Hole visitors to Wyoming beer. Its motto holds that the world needs a better beer, not just another one. Today Snake River pours from 12 taps alongside cocktails, wine and cider, serves a full food menu and seats guests first come, first served.
